One year after kidnapping, search continues for missing girl wit

Thursday marked the one year anniversary of the disappearance of a young girl who was reported kidnapped her mother, who has with ties to Athens, Georgia. 

Kayla Unbehaun, 10, and her mother, 36 year-old Heather Unbehaun were last seen in South Elgin, Illinois on July 5, 2017. A felony warrant for kidnapping was issued for Heather Unbehaun on July 28, 2017.

In August of 2017, the Athens-Clarke Police Department posted on their departmental Facebook page that Heather has ties to the Athens area and the vehicle they’re traveling in, a green Toyota Camry, had Georgia license plates with the tag number PTN 3975.

Kayla is described as a white female around 4’4″ tall and weighing about 60 pounds. She has Sandy hair and blue eyes. Heather is described as a white female, standing about 5’3″ tall and weighing around 135 pounds.
