ATLANTA – Police are investigating an officer-involved accident in Atlanta.
The accident involving four cars happened in the area of Lee Street SW at Donnelly Avenue SW.
Investigators said a driver somehow lost control and rammed into the back of the officer’s car.
Channel 2 Action News has learned the officer was taken to the hospital complaining of neck and back pain.
Two other adults and one child were in the car that hit the officer. The adults were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK. The child was not injured, police said.
News of the accident traveled fast, especially over police scanner, so officers rushed to the hospital to ensure their brother in blue was OK.
After nearly 3 hours of tests and evaluations, that officer, who is not being identified, was released from Grady Memorial Hospital.
Authorities said the drivers of the other two cars refused treatment on scene.
Detectives said they’re still investigating how and why this happened.
